Nick Thorkelson

This fall I purchased a watercolor from the incredibly talented illustrator and fine artist Nick Thorkelson. Nick is a neighbor, friend, and a true inspiration. I was drawn to this painting because of the dynamic playful geometries, the colors, and the composition. This painting is a scene in Somerville, MA near Teal Square. I absolutely love it and it portrays the grit and funk of the triple decker lifestyle in Somerville. Nick is most known for his illustrations and comics which are brilliant but I am particularly inspired by his loose, and whimsical watercolors which remind me a lot of Hopper. I am really happy to own an original.
